To empower, support, and elevate women

By Phoenix Lane

Listen to me. You didn't just "go through a breakup." You survived a war. 🌪️

You escaped a dynamic that was designed to shrink you. A relationship that fed on your light and left you wondering if you’d ever feel like yourself again. But here’s the cold, hard truth: Leaving was only the first step. Staying gone: and actually healing: is where the real work begins.

I see you. I see you trying to put the pieces back together while your nervous system is screaming. I see you wondering why you still feel "crazy" even though he’s gone.

You aren't crazy. You’re just human. But you might be making some critical mistakes that are keeping you tethered to a ghost.

It’s time to cut the cord. For real this time.

Here are the 7 mistakes you’re making while trying to heal: and exactly how to fix them before they drain another drop of your magic. 🔥

1. You’re Still Orbiting the "Ex-Planet"

You blocked him. Great. But then you spent three hours last night scrolling through his sister’s Instagram to see if he looked "sad" in that group photo.

This is the Ex-Orbit. And it is toxic as hell.

When you "check-in," you are hitting a shot of cortisol straight to your brain. You are keeping the trauma bond alive and well. You think you’re looking for closure, but all you’re finding is a reason to stay stuck.

The Fix: Go full dark mode. No checking social media. No asking mutual friends "how he’s doing." No re-reading old emails to see where it went wrong. Your healing cannot begin until your surveillance ends. Put the phone down. Pick your life up.

2. Romanticizing the Wreckage

Loneliness is a liar. It will sit next to you on a Tuesday night and whisper that "it wasn't really that bad." It will make you remember that one weekend in 2019 when he actually brought you flowers, while making you "forget" the three years of gaslighting that followed.

Stop. Fucking. Romanticizing.

You didn't leave a "misunderstanding." You left a toxic pattern. When you only remember the "good times," you are gaslighting yourself.

The Fix: Write the "Shit List." Every lie. Every scream. Every time he made you feel small. Keep it in your notes app. The next time you feel "nostalgic," read that list. Remind yourself why you chose war to get to peace.

3. The Accountability Imbalance

There are two traps here.
Trap A: You take 100% of the blame. "If only I was quieter/thinner/more patient."
Trap B: You take 0% of the responsibility. "He’s a monster and I’m a perfect victim."

Both keep you powerless.

Toxic people choose their targets. If you don't look at why you stayed, why you ignored the red flags, or why you thought you didn't deserve better, you will walk straight into the arms of a "New Version" of the "Old Him."

The Fix: Own your part without shaming yourself. You aren't responsible for his abuse. You are responsible for your boundaries moving forward. Analyze the patterns, not just the person.

4. Numbing the Noise (Instead of Feeling the Fire)

Healing hurts. So you scroll. You drink. You work 80 hours a week. You "retail therapy" your way into debt. You do anything to avoid the silence because the silence is where the grief lives.

But guess what? You can’t outrun a feeling.

Every time you numb out, you’re just hitting the "snooze" button on your healing. And that alarm is going to go off eventually: and it’ll be louder next time.

The Fix: Create a "healing ritual." Instead of reaching for wine or your phone, reach for a tool. Use a jade roller to ground yourself. Light a candle. Sit in the discomfort for ten minutes. Cry until your face is puffy. The only way out is through.

5. Playing the "Lone Wolf"

You’re embarrassed. You don’t want to be the "divorced friend" or the "one with the crazy ex" again. So you isolate. You pull back. You tell everyone "I'm fine" while you’re crumbling in the grocery store aisle.

Isolation is where toxic memories thrive.

You were isolated inside the relationship. Don't do his work for him now that you’re out. You need witnesses to your growth. You need a tribe that reminds you who the hell you are.

The Fix: Join the community. Whether it's a support group, a therapist, or a group of women who have walked through the same fire. Strength isn't doing it alone; strength is knowing you don't have to.

6. The Rebound Rush

The void is terrifying. The silence in your house is deafening. So you get on the apps. You find a "nice guy" who is the polar opposite of your ex. You’re "in love" by week three.

Stop. You are band-aiding a bullet wound.

You aren't falling in love; you’re falling for a distraction. You are using another person to regulate your nervous system because you don't know how to do it yourself yet.

The Fix: Commit to a "Season of Self." Six months. No dating. No "situationships." Just you. Learn what you like to eat when no one is complaining. Learn what your favorite movie is. Become the love of your own damn life.

7. Ignoring Your "Body Debt"

A toxic relationship lives in your tissues. It’s the knot in your stomach. The tension in your jaw. The way you jump when the door slams.

You cannot think your way out of trauma.

If you aren't addressing your nervous system, you are just spinning your wheels. You can read every self-help book on the planet, but if your body still thinks it’s in danger, you won't heal.

The Fix: Prioritize somatic healing. Get outside. Stand on the earth. Breathe. Move your body: not to lose weight, but to release the stagnant energy of the past. Reclaim your skin as a safe place to live. 🍃

Your Liberation Manifesto ✨

Repeat these until they are tattooed on your soul:

  • I am not what happened to me.
  • My peace is non-negotiable.
  • I do not owe my "ex" a single second of my mental space.
  • I am the architect of my new life.
  • I am brave for leaving, but I am a warrior for staying. 👑
